SLAM: what it means

Something Left After Misfortune was formed in Atlanta, GA in 1997 with the intent of pushing the musical boundaries of rock by exploring the possibilities of sound and blending elements of psychedelic rock, metal, and punk. Pertaining to the name itself, SLAM means wisdom gained through the pain of everyday tragedies, and also the balance of opposites: good and evil, light and dark. The music reflects a theme of hope and strength, while also dealing with controversial political and social issues of our time. The name also reflects the dark and light nature of the music, at times moody and soft, at other times bright and abrasive. Following in the tradition of classic rock, S.L.A.M. infuses these traits with a highly energetic and passionate live show, recalled from bands such as the Who, and Jimi Hendrix. The band continues its duty to save rock and hopes to one day be part of a diverse scene of bands who love music that takes the listener on a journey.
